When my good friend, Jean, saw my knitted octopus toy, she suggested that I create a marine-scape. Intrigued by her suggestion, I thought about what kind of marine animal I’d like to tackle next. I was stumped for awhile, but then I finally settled upon this cute little whale. But unlike his literary cousin, this white whale gave me very little grief!

Per usual, I knitted this little guy in the round on double-point needles for the body. The fins were fun to shape: I used the “make 1” technique while knitting the top and bottom layers of the tail on straight needles. Once I was finished, I felt like poor little Moby was missing something. Luckily, some shimmery blue yarn was just the inspiration I needed for some spewing water. I’m sure Moby is thinking, “Whew!” now that he can take a deep breath!

I took notes while creating this little guy, and hopefully I’ll be able to post a pattern soon~~ In the meantime, I hope you’ve enjoyed meeting Moby!
